Welcome to our web site. The Goat and Sheep Producers of Alabama is a unique, diverse and dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to helping limited resource small ruminant farmers become successful entrepreneurs. We are farmers working together.
On this web site, you will find a variety of topics on both goats and sheep. There will be information on all aspects of farm management as well as record keeping. We will also keep everyone up to date on coming events such as workshops, lectures and seminars with our events calendar.
For our goat farmers, there will be information on meat goats, diary goats and fiber goats as well as registered goats and percentages. Some of the specific breeds we will be talking about include Nubians, Boers, Angora and Kikos. There will be information on medications that can be used for anything from worming your goats to treating a specific disease.
For our sheep farmers, there will be information on the various breeds of sheep such as Corriedale, Natural Color, Hampshire, Shropshire and Dorset's and there will also be information on the types of medications that can be used to treat sheep that are different from treating goats.
The list of information that will be available is too long to list here, but in the coming weeks and months more information will be added to this site. We would also like to ask that you bear with us as this site is being created and new features will be added in the coming months.
